Adidas Released Virtual Gear NFT Collection

On November 16, 2022, adidas Originals officially launched its digital wearables on the market: Virtual Gear Genesis Collection.

Virtual Gear consists of high-fashion digital assets that allow owners to collect and dress their characters. Virtual Gear includes 16 pieces of limited edition design, marking the launch of a new product category of adidas Originals:

Born in the age of social media and virtual identity adoption, the genesis collection showcases an evolution of the adidas house codes reimagined for the Metaverse.

Erika Wykes-Sneyd - VP of the adidas Web3 studio stated:

“We’re laying down a marker in this new age of originality - one that unquestionably serves the community, heroes the purveyors and collectors of emerging style and culture, benefits the value creators, and supports the diversity of expression and utility that blurring virtual worlds has allowed us all to explore”.

adidas will release a PFP dressing tool enabling Virtual Gear to be worn by PFP avatars from its compatible partner collections: Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club and Inhabitants.

adidas has a real game changer in the NFT concept of Virtual Gear. Unlike well-known collections that allow burning virtual clothing onto a PFP as a permanent addition, its new PFP dressing tool will make it possible for NFT owners to change their Bored Apes, Mutant Apes, and Inhabitants’ outfits just as they can with their own clothes.

For owners of the adidas Capsule NFTs launched in May 2022, you will receive randomized pieces from Virtual Gear collection for free, but only when you choose to burn your Capsule NFT to see which one you get. Otherwise you can hold onto the Capsulesand wait for the next chance.

For non-owners of adidas Originals’ NFT, Virtual Gear, along with other adidas digital collections, is now available for transaction on OpenSea.

The highest-valued NFT at the moment is Genesis 01 - GMONEY, now on sale at the price of 12 ETH.

The total trading volume of the collection is now reaching 62 ETH (around $76,000) after 48 hours of initia listing.

Nic Galway, Senior VP of Creative Direction for adidas Originals added a positive opinion on the future of Web3:
