Google Cloud Collaborates with the Coinbase Exchange to Allow Cryptocurrency Payments

Google has announced that it will begin accepting cryptocurrency payments for Google Cloud in 2023.

According to CNBC, Google Cloud has announced a partnership with Coinbase, the largest US cryptocurrency exchange, to handle crypto transactions from next year.

Amit Zavery, vice president at Google Cloud, provided this information during Google's Cloud Next conference. Mr. Zavery disclosed that the Coinbase Commerce service would be integrated into Google Cloud, allowing a handful of customers in the Web3 world who want to pay with cryptocurrency to do so.

Although Google has not released a list of cryptocurrencies for which it accepts payments, Coinbase Commerce presently accepts Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), Apecoin (APE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), and Dai (DAI).

Google will also use Coinbase Prime for institutional crypto services, such as custody and reporting.

Google Cloud has long expressed interest in the cryptocurrency industry, launching its Web3 subsidiary in July 2022. This Google company has also lately formed alliances with several well-known cryptocurrency projects, including NEAR Protocol, Aptos, and BNB Chain. Meanwhile, Google's parent firm has invested $1.5 billion in blockchain businesses and created a countdown timer for Ethereum's The Merge update in September.

Along with Google, prominent US corporations that have accepted cryptocurrency include Tesla (invest BTC, accept DOGE payments), PayPal (accept crypto payments), and Starbucks (open NFT rewards program). Twitter - Facebook - Instagram (promote NFT),... However, other IT companies like Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft are still cautious about investing in or accepting cryptocurrency.
